British virtuoso Ruel James has been described as "one of the world's most gifted artists." His wide range of original works in sculpture and oils and his expertise in masterpiece restoration have kept him living abroad in twelve countries from Bahrain to France to Hong Kong for most of his life.

He, along with his wife Sheryl (a former fashion model) and three children, currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ruel is continuing his prolific career here in the United States by working in oils, acrylics, and watercolors; with his main area of interest currently being the female figure. In fact when asked what motivates him in his art he unabashedly responds with, "I have a fascination for the female body and a love for woman." His favorite piece of his own works of art being, "Stripes" an exquisite nude.

He also has a passion for imported and exotic cars, both of which are extensively represented in his art. Ruel has been accredited as being "one of the world's finest automobile artists."

Ruel began painting at six or seven years old and it was his grandfather who really encouraged him to pursue his art. Upon graduation from high school Ruel won a scholarship to the prestigious British school The Royal College of Art, a rare accomplishment for a "commoner."

Born in Jamaica, raised in England. He has worked most of his life as a commercial artist. He quickly gave it up without regret to raise a family.

When asked what advice or suggestions he would offer aspiring artists, he half jokingly replies, "Get the money up front. Take care of business and stay focused on what you're trying to do. Don't ever get discouraged. Try not to let others influence your dreams."

As is an important question to ponder for all artists of any renown, Ruel would like to be remembered as an "all-rounder." A very versatile artist who would take on most any project. He loves a challenge. If he can see it, he can paint it. He never wants to be put "in a box" and uses all mediums of art with no specializations.

His favorite artists and or inspirations would be John Pitre an American artist from the 60's and 70's and a major part of the pop movement. Also Michael English- another well known and fantastic pop art commercial artist.

Ruel has developed quite a reputation in both the U.S. and Europe through his commercial art. In fact, it is amusing that most people, while having no idea as to his name would instantly recognize his work with, for lack of a better term "household familiarity."

Ruel's goal is to build up enough pieces to open his own gallery. Which would also include a restaurant (he's a gourmet chef) because art can simulate the appetite and will appeal to people of all ages, and he cooks just like he paints. When he was actually asked if he would rather cook or paint he was unable to choose.

In addition, his works are and have been exhibited and sold throughout the world at such galleries as; Interlit Gallery, Antwerp Belgium, Robin Thew Gallery, Manchester, England, Cato Gallery, Holland, Carroll Shelby Museum, Las Vegas, USA to name a few.
